Oh Rory... but what a bunker shot from Bryson!

Rory McIlroy's major drought continues after finishing 2nd at The US Open. With 4 holes to play Rory had a 1 shot lead over Bryson DeChambeau having started the day 3 shots behind. Sadly 3 bogeys in the last 4 meant that Rory would finish 1 behind, Bryson also dropped 1, and have to settle for 2nd once again.

It was a thrilling final day with Rory chasing down Bryson all day and taking the lead just after the turn. At one point Rory had a 2 shot lead but that was short lived. It looked all set for Rory to end his 13 year wait for his 5th major but he missed a 3ft putt on 16, the first putt from 3ft or under he missed this year. He made a great up and down on 17 to make par but then with a very tricky 4ft putt on the last for par Rory missed again. This mean Bryson just needed a par.

Bryson, like Rory, hit his tee shot left on the last meaning he would need to lay up. He hit is 2nd into the bunker that was 60 yards. Needing to get up and down to win Bryson produced one of the best clutch shots in golfs history knocking the ball just inside 4 feet. His playing partner then putted first leaving his ball just inside Bryson and on the same line. In tradition he would then usually finish leaving the moment for Bryson but as it had to be holed and would have given Bryson an advantage Pavon waited. The crowd started to boo the Frenchman but Bryson showed his class like he had all week and stepped in to quiet down the crowd.

Bryson holed his putt and let out an almighty roar, he celebrated with his caddy before realising Pavon still needed to finish. Again Bryson was very respectful and apologised to the Frenchman who had no issue with Bryson's celebrations.

With 1 major left of the year it could leave Rory majorless again for another year.
